How to play Windage — online artillery for 2–6 players

Windage is a free, browser-based artillery game — a modern online remake of the classic Scorched Earth. Tanks take turns lobbing shells across destructible terrain; the last tank (or team) standing wins the round, and the most round wins across the match takes the game. No download and no sign-up — just open it and play.

The goal

Take turns firing at the other tanks. Whoever is left when the dust settles wins the round; win the most rounds to win the match. Play free-for-all or in teams.

Aiming & firing

Drag anywhere on the battlefield to point the barrel and set power, or use the ANGLE and POWER sliders. Pick a weapon, then hit FIRE. Keyboard controls: ←/→ adjust angle, ↑/↓ adjust power (hold Shift for ×5), A/D drive, 1–9 / 0 select weapon, Space fire, T chat.

Mind the windage

The wind shifts every turn — that's the whole game. Watch the arrows up top and the streaks drifting across the sky, and lead your shots into the wind. Toggle the aim-assist arc for a predicted trajectory while you learn the ropes.

Money & the arms shop

You earn cash for damage, kills and round wins (and savings even earn interest). Between rounds, spend it in the shop on bigger weapons and defensive gear. See the full Windage weapons guide for everything you can buy.

Gear that keeps you alive

Shields and mag deflectors guard you, parachutes cancel fall damage, batteries heal mid-turn, and fuel lets you drive to a better spot before firing (you can't climb cliffs). Guidance systems — heat seekers, ballistic computers and more — turn tricky shots into hits.

Game modes

Single player — battle 1–5 CPU tanks at easy, normal or hard difficulty, with full control over the map and rules.
Campaign — climb a ladder of progressively tougher opponents.
Hot seat — 2–6 humans pass and play on one device.
Multiplayer online — play 2–6 players over the internet, public or behind a shared party keyword, or spectate a game in progress.

Maps & wall styles

Choose from rolling hills, mountains, plateaus, islands and flatlands, with wall styles that change how shots behave at the screen edge: open (fly off), wraparound, rubber (bounce), spring (kick back) or concrete (stop). Tweak gravity, wind and stormy skies for a different battle every time.
